Comments: The author, who has written textbooks, compendia and curricula for citizenship for Slovenian secondary schools, considers in detail the aims and contents of citizenship education, the Slovene accommodation to demands of countries of the European union, and the foundation, nature, development and role of Slovene goals in this field of education. She concludes that these are not only meant to serve pragmatic politics and ideology, but to render the Slovene society and its school system able to preserve and develop a citizenship tradition and to re-establish its relation to the political culture. At the same time she draws attention to the danger of mere subordination and transplantation of strange measures, goals, or even whole systems to a completely different social, political and everyday environment.
