Comments: This paper will look at France's new Education r la citoyenneté for primary schools and colleges. This is quite different from the former programme of Education civique. Education r la citoyenneté is expected to cover a large range of subjects/areas: the political context (European citizenship), the social context (work and social exclusion), perceptions of childhood, and individual attitudes. The paper will present three models for teaching: a traditional model an analogic model (school as a micro-society) a realistic model (learning through meaningful activities, for real purposes).
