This paper reports preliminary findings on Swedish pre-school children’s concerns for the future, their interest in peace and conflict as well as their hopes and fears. This is part of a larger international research project Children’s concerns for the future. Earlier findings showed older pupils aware of social and environmental issues and concerned for their local communities. Also reported are teacher education and student teacher’s experiences of interviewing pre-school children. Young children’s experiences of everyday life are closely connected to their visions of the future: they are able to think ahead. Pre-school children’s concerns are similar to those found in primary school: they have an optimistic attitude. Questions are raised for teacher education and the progression of citizen education for student teachers.
