We are pleased to announce the 14th annual Children’s Identity and Citizenship in Europe Conference. The conference, under the theme: Creating Citizenship Communities, will be held at the University of York, UK, from the 24th to the 26th of May 2012.
This year's conference will be organized in association with two significant groups in the field of citizenship education: CitizED (a global network of academics) and the project team of the Esmée Fairbairn funded initiative ‘Creating Citizenship Communities’.
The conference theme of creating citizenship communities is particularly pertinent to citizenship and identities education. It reflects on current concerns for community cohesion from local to global scales and chimes with current initiatives around volunteering and intergenerational solidarity.
Please visit the conference page for details. We look forward to seeing you all in York.
We have a Working Group for each strand of the Network activity and their members are selected by the Executive Committee from a pool of volunteers, on the basis of specific expertise for the task and in consideration of including members from different geographical regions of Europe. Please see here for a list of the new CiCe 5 Working group members and details of future vacancies. Invitations to join new Working Groups are published in our bi-monthly Newsletter.
Our application for a further three years of funding (October 2011-14) for the CiCe Erasmus Academic Network has been successful, and CiCe has been recommended for EU funding under the LLP Erasmus sub-programme for the sixth consecutive time. The award is for the maximum grant and will help fund the work of this new phase of the CiCe network, which will have over 70 partners from 30 different countries.
The administrative team at London Metropolitan is now preparing all the necessary documentation, so do contact them urgenlty if you are still to send any of the forms.
