Research Conference Materials

Dear Student,

We are delighted to welcome you to CiCe's first European Research Student Summer School. You will find below some guidelines to help you to prepare your paper and some general information about the conference.  If you have any queries not covered in this page please contact Angela Kamara at the CiCe office or your allocated tutor.

This year's conference will take place at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Warmia and Mazury, Olsztyn, Poland and will start on Monday 9 June 2014 at 4pm and will finish on Saturday 14 June, 1.30pm.

What you need to do now:

  • Final papers must be submitted by email to  

  • Read and prepare comments on your peer review  partner’s papers

  • Present your paper to the conference audience and comment upon your allocated fellow student’s paper.

General Information


The Summer School will be held at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland. For general information about Olsztyn and the University of Warmia and Mazury please see: and


The Student Conference will start on Monday 9 June 2014 at 4pm in the afternoon and will finish on Saturday 14 June, 1.30pm, followed by lunch.


Please note that you are responsible for making your own travel arrangements to/from Olsztyn. 

Olsztyn is easily accessible from Warsaw (Frederic Chopin Airport), Warsaw Modlin (low cost airlines) or Gdansk (Lech Walesa Airport). There are frequent connections to Olsztyn by train (a journey of approx. 3 hours) or bus (approx. 2 hours.)  Olsztyn is located at the North-East part of Poland, 200 km from Warsaw or Gdansk. There is also a wide range of ferry lines to Gdansk and Swinoujscie.

We have provisionally reserved rooms in a Hostel for Students, ZAK FOUNDATION, which is located on the University of Warmia and Mazury campus –300 meters from the Conference Centre and 1.5 km from the city center and old town. ( ).
Prices are about €32 per night per room, €16/€17 if you share a room.

If you want to stay here, then please can you confirm by email that you want us to book you a room and for how many nights by 25th April so that we can confirm numbers with the hostel.  Please note that you are responsible for paying for your accommodation.

Conference Dinner

We are delighted to invite you to join us at this year's conference dinner, which will take place on Friday 13th June.  The cost of the meal is included in your Summer School Conference fee.
