The Seventh Anual CiCe Network Conference had as its theme ‘Teaching Citizenship’ and included papers on a range of topics reflecting teaching and learning from the pre-school through to higher education.
Three keynote addresses were given:
Alistair Ross, London Metropolitan University, UK,introduced the conference in his then role as CiCe Coordinator, with a paper that considered the nature of citizenship and how citizenship is constructed with respect to the role of teaching and learning in the process.
Robi Kroflic, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, reflected on the concept of authority and its importance for successful citizenship education.
Cathy Holden, University of Exeter, UK, reported on studies related to global citizenship - on children’s hopes and fears for the future, and student teachers understanding and motivation to teach about such issues.
